Community Corrections reports lease opportunity; probation update notes juvenile case and February spending

Community Corrections supervisor Brett Barton told the council the program currently has 86 clients on its caseload, four on the community transition program (CTP), one on pretrial release and two juveniles under supervision. Barton said a landlord has agreed to release the program from its existing lease so the program can move forward with renovating and occupying a new building; he indicated he did not expect the move to require action by the council.
Probation staff member Nancy reported $1,764 in spending for February. She described a recent juvenile case in which a 12-year-old was alleged to have placed a hot hand on a younger sibling, a report she characterized as the final incident after other concerning behavior; the child is currently back with his father and receiving services and may be placed in a facility at a later time, she said.
Both speakers provided brief updates and took no formal action at the meeting.
