Radcliff discusses adding funds to road resurfacing list; mayor proposes limited reserve use

Staff said the current budget for scheduled roads is $471,732.88 and that completing the additional list would cost about $458,000, producing a combined total near $940,000.
The mayor said he was considering releasing a portion of the city’s reserves — ``maybe a hundred, hundred and 50,000 additional dollars'' — to cover some smaller roads and cul‑de‑sacs rather than issuing debt. Examples cited during the discussion included Camelot Loop (nearly $40,000), Wagon Wheel (about $35,000), Terrace (about $50,000), Cali Crossing Lane ($22,000) and Skyline Drive ($45,000). City staff cautioned the numbers could vary depending on tonnage and site conditions.
Council members also noted that several problem locations sit on or near state right‑of‑way and require coordination with the state. Staff said they would ask David to reach out to the state about several problematic entrances, including areas near Park Avenue by Stifton Baptist Church and the entrance by Colton’s. The mayor said he did not want to promise repairs until staff confirms what the state will do.
No formal funding decision was made in the work session; staff said they will continue to refine the list with the finance director and present any recommended transfer or amendment for council action.
