Victor Central School District officials report $3.5 million budget gap, press for additional state aid

At a Victor Central School District board meeting, Superintendent Dr. Terranova told the board the district is working to manage a projected budget shortfall for the 2025–26 school year and is continuing advocacy for increased foundation (state) aid.

"We have a way to manage our deficit for next year," Dr. Terranova said, adding the district would find the process easier if it receives increased foundation aid from the state.

The shortfall and why it matters

District finance staff told the board the budget under development shows a gap of about $3,500,000 between projected revenues and expenses for 2025–26. Christine (staff member) described the gap and explained staff plans to narrow it through continued state-aid advocacy, use of current-year contingency funds if necessary and tighter contingency planning for next year.

Dorothy D'Angelo, assistant superintendent for personnel, told the board there are no planned program or personnel cuts at this stage: "There are no projected cuts of people or programs at this time."
