A Meals on Wheels representative told the court that in 2024 the program and its partners served a total of about 327,500 meals (January–December 2024) and that volunteers and partners delivered more than 230,000 meals in the local community. The group promoted a Community Champions Day on March 20 and invited commissioners and residents to volunteer.
The proclamation notes the Older Americans Act amendment in 1972 that created the national nutrition program for individuals 60 and older, and it urges support through federal, state and local funding, volunteering and donations to sustain services as the senior population grows.
