Wichita County Commissioners Court on Tuesday approved several routine and operational items, including an updated county emergency management plan and a $7,000 quote to replace countertops in the indigent health office. All recorded motions passed unanimously, 5-0.
The court approved the updated Wichita County Basic Emergency Management Plan and authorized the county judge to sign a letter verifying the plan is current and to distribute it to participating cities. The plan, which contains annexes A through X, was described by staff as a five-year review required by the Texas Division of Emergency Management; changes were limited to line-of-succession updates and a revision of the resource-adviser position.
Commissioners also moved to approve routine disbursement of regular bills and payroll, ratified minutes of the March 4 regular session and the March 7 special session, and accepted a contractor quote from Cody Williams Construction to replace laminate countertops in the indigent health office at a cost of $7,000 to be paid from permanent improvements. The consent agenda was amended on the floor (item 5 corrected to $4,004.08 reimbursement to Corhale; item 6 was pulled for further review; item 10 clarified project and payee), and the amended consent agenda passed 5-0.
Why it matters: Approving an updated emergency management plan keeps Wichita County aligned with state review cycles and clarifies succession and resource responsibilities before severe-weather seasons. The countertop replacement decision funds a visible public-facing repair in a county office and the amended consent items correct the record on payments and transfers.

The meeting moved into closed session later for two real-property deliberations; commissioners reported no action was taken on those closed-session items when the court returned to open session.
