Council approves Jack’s Wing Company sidewalk café with beer-and-wine conditions

Bradenton City Council on Wednesday approved a special-use resolution allowing Jack’s Wing Company to operate a sidewalk café with beer-and-wine sales at 316 12th Street West.
Planning staff presented Resolution 205-204 and recommended approval with conditions including execution of an indemnification agreement within 30 days, maintenance of a five-foot clear pedestrian pathway, compliance with state licensing (including any extension of premise for alcohol sales) and review of any cleaning solutions by the Public Works Department.
Joshua Hatch, owner of Jack’s Wing Company, told the council the sidewalk café would provide “a little bit more outside seating” and said the restaurant is “a beer and wine only” operation. He said tables would be removed or stored when not in use and that he has arranged storage with the building owner.
Planning staff noted the site is in the T5 zoning district with urban core future land use and that sidewalk cafés are permitted in T5 but alcohol sales require special use approval. Planning Commission recommended approval 4-0 on Feb. 19 with stipulations mirroring staff recommendations.
Vice Mayor Kramer moved to approve the resolution with staff stipulations; Councilmember Coachman seconded. The motion carried 4-0.
The council’s approval limits the sidewalk café to eight seats in the proposed layout, requires the indemnification agreement and directs that any increase in seating return to City Council for approval.
