The Town of Templeton Select Board voted 3–2 on March 12 to accept Town Administrator Adam Lamontagne’s letter of resignation, then unanimously approved a six‑month interim appointment for Assistant Town Administrator Holly Young.
Lamontagne, who has served the town in administrative roles for more than seven years, addressed the board before the vote and thanked residents and staff. “This truly was a great experience,” he said during brief remarks before leaving the meeting. The board then moved to accept the resignation; the motion passed with three members voting yes and two members voting no.
The board immediately considered interim leadership. Chairman Mike Curry moved to appoint Holly Young as interim town administrator effective March 18, 2025. After discussion the board amended the term from one year to a six‑month appointment ending Sept. 17, 2025, and added direction to formalize the arrangement in a written agreement. The amended motion passed 5–0.
Board members said they wanted continuity through budget season and time to determine whether to pursue a broader search for a permanent town administrator. Several members emphasized that appointment of an interim does not preclude a competitive search later. “If she comes back to the board and asks for resources to be successful, we should evaluate them,” one member said during debate.
Young accepted the interim role at the meeting and the board asked staff to place a draft written interim agreement on the next regular meeting agenda for review.
The board also discussed possible needs for temporary backfill in the assistant’s office while Young serves as interim and signaled openness to providing additional staff or consulting support if Young requests it.
The board’s formal votes on the resignation and the interim appointment were recorded in the meeting minutes.
