County staff presented a negotiated quote for a new jail camera system and described multiple building maintenance needs across county facilities, and commissioners asked for a prioritized cost list to include in budget planning.
The sheriff's office reported negotiating a camera system price below threshold covering 40 cameras (six exterior) and new coaxial wiring with a standard three‑year warranty; extended warranty options were available. The sheriff asked whether the commission would authorize using current funds to proceed before the new fiscal year, noting budget timing could delay work until July.
Commissioners and staff also discussed multiple maintenance issues at county buildings: roof leaks, lights, air units beginning to fail, and deteriorating interior finishes in a county facility that is roughly 20 years old. The election administrator (Annette) reported two quotes to replace air conditioning units and noted windows and doors are also inefficient. Annette said $16,500 had previously been set aside for HVAC work and that replacing units together with window improvements would exceed that amount by roughly $3,300 but that she expected to reallocate within her existing budget and asked the commission to authorize use of already‑allocated funds.
Annette also described cybersecurity and continuity plan items identified by the Department of Homeland Security assessment and asked for permission to proceed with some upgrades; she noted a Generac quote for $12,383.90 and said $14,000 had been left in her budget from a prior allocation that could cover needed cybersecurity measures if the commission approved modifications to the building.
Commissioners asked staff to prepare a prioritized list of facility needs with cost estimates to include in next year’s budget process. One commissioner said the county could move forward with approved current year funds for items already allocated in departmental budgets.
