District launches community‑driven mission and vision renewal process

The Newman‑Crows Landing Unified School District introduced a community‑driven process to renew its mission and vision statements, with staff and county partners outlining teams, timelines and opportunities for stakeholder input.
Superintendent Pruitt and a core district team told the board the current mission and vision were created in 2017–18 and do not reflect current staff, students or community priorities. The district plans to solicit input from students, parents, staff, board members and community partners and to form committees and outreach channels so the statements reflect current values and future goals.
Mike Ruhle of the Stanislaus County Office of Education described his role as an objective project manager supporting the district’s planning and said the process would be deliberate, with phases for data gathering, drafting, feedback and adoption. District leaders said the work will include creating measurable goals, an impact report and annual review processes to keep the statements relevant.
Presenters named a core team of district staff who will coordinate the work and said they expect to spend the remainder of the year building the plan and conducting the community engagement in the following year. Board members were asked to help encourage participation in the outreach process.
