The manager said the college's "Get a Better Job" program began with four participants locally and had grown to eight for an upcoming session. Separately, a city employee training program developed with the college and the city's human resources and communications teams had attracted 110 employees as of the morning of Feb. 4. The manager said the most popular class topics included customer service, project management and Microsoft Office tools and emphasized the program was free to both the city and employees.
The manager reminded commissioners that the city's ARPA allocations were pooled regionally with other small cities to fund workforce programming at Seminole State College. He said the current funding term had a stated end but did not specify an exact expiration date during his remarks.
No formal action was taken; the manager said staff may propose adding the program to a future budget if demand remains high.
