Committee previews Purple Heart County signage plan and approves advocacy travel

Staff displayed draft sign designs showing a Purple Heart designation; committee members discussed placement and size, noting that signs on higher-speed state roads would be larger per MUTCD sizing than town-road signs. Staff said signs would be installed on roads leading into Washington County and that final sizing and placement would follow MUTCD guidance and road classification.
Separately, a committee member requested approval to stay overnight during a multi-day advocacy visit to Albany focused on local roads. The committee approved the request; members noted the county has historically approved similar travel for the local roads advocacy effort and discussed room-sharing logistics when appropriate. Staff clarified the additional overnight request was an amendment to the travel plan and would be reflected in travel paperwork.
Both items were handled as informational/travel approval items and passed by voice vote.
