Savannah Clement, Public Services, briefed the commissioners on several facilities items including progress on annex remediation, a Hall of Justice feasibility timeline and exterior lighting and skylight work.
Clement said drywall and network cabling work at the annex are complete, carpet installation is underway and desks and panels for OPD have been ordered so OPD can move into the space when completed. "The drywall is complete. We also have the network cables installed as well," she said, and staff expect the remaining work in roughly six weeks as schedule permits.
On the Hall of Justice feasibility timeline, Clement said the timeline is included with a proposal and "is ready for the chairman to sign," and that staff expect a November final deliverable with potential preliminary materials available for a May trip to Washington, D.C.
Facilities staff also reported they would add rooftop exterior lights to improve nighttime visibility in the facility’s south-side parking area; a core van was observed on site while crews worked. Regarding a skylight issue, staff said they have not yet received a roofing quote and plan to obtain quotes to compare full replacement versus repair; a temporary tarp has not been placed because of recent snow and wind but staff expect a quote next week and work later in spring.
