Staff described Summer Bridge as a seven-week program that provides about one hour per week of in-home instruction to participating preschoolers to address the “summer slide” and improve kindergarten readiness. The district contribution to the program for this contract was stated as $20,000 annually. Staff also said the district served 70 children in Summer Bridge during summer 2024 and that students were assessed using the Brigance early-childhood test; staff reported “great gains” from that pilot year.
Other consent items described in the packet included an outplacement contract for one student, an extended field trip for about 30 show-choir students to an out-of-state competition in Indiana, and routine personnel and athletics agenda items. No separate debate or amendment of these consent items occurred during the meeting.
