Middletown High bowling team honored after sectional championship

The Middletown City Board of Education recognized Middletown High School’s boys varsity bowling team at its March 10 work session after the team won the 2025 sectional championship.
Board President opened the presentation by calling up Athletic Director JD Faust and Coach Kupp to introduce the team and its season accomplishments. Faust said the team was “the reason why we’re here this evening,” and highlighted the program’s multiple recent district and sectional successes.
Coach Kupp praised the players’ teamwork and resilience, noting one player missed time for a medical condition and a junior-varsity teammate filled in. The board noted individual accomplishments mentioned by the athletic department: LaMarcus Ward qualified for the state tournament, and the team finished fifth in a competitive GMC conference with an 11–5 record this season. The athletic director also summarized program results over the four seniors’ tenure as 49–17 overall and noted prior seasons’ records and awards.
Board members and administrators congratulated the students and coaches, and attendees were invited to remain for the rest of the meeting or leave after the recognition.
The board did not take any policy action or vote related to athletics during the recognition segment; the item was ceremonial.
