Grandview Heights City Council on a unanimous vote authorized the mayor and the director of finance to enter into a contract with an electric supplier to implement a municipal electric aggregation program for customers inside city boundaries. The ordinance (2025-03) passed after the council suspended its rules to allow prompt contract execution.
Energy Alliance consultant Rich told the council that the aggregation program has produced savings for residents in prior periods and that market conditions have recently become volatile. He said most participating households had saved about $40 each in the first seven months of the prior program (roughly a 9% reduction in cost) and that the total community savings to date was about $83,000. Rich warned that capacity auction prices had jumped markedly and that short-term wholesale and capacity costs were driving a rapid increase in offers from suppliers.
