Council committee approves property acquisitions and project management agreement for Cortland–Piedmont Safe Streets project
Summary

The Transportation Committee on March 12 approved measures to advance the Cortland–Piedmont Safe Streets project, including authorization to acquire required property interests and a project management agreement with the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District.
An ordinance authorizing the mayor to begin acquisition steps for property interests necessary to complete the Cortland–Piedmont Safe Streets project passed on a 6-0 vote. The ordinance authorizes negotiations, title searches, appraisals, surveys and, if negotiations are unsuccessful, condemnation proceedings under OCGA 32-3-1.
Separately, the committee approved a resolution authorizing the mayor to execute a project management agreement with the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District for the Cortland–Piedmont Safe Streets project, in an amount not to exceed $5,995,617.50. Committee members amended the resolution to attach the project management agreement as Exhibit A and approved the amended resolution 6-0. Committee documents list funding and account numbers for contract charges and payments.
The items passed without extended debate; staff will move forward with the acquisition process and the project management contract as authorized by the committee.
