Lake Bluff staff propose pay-plan update, reclassifying administrative secretary to management analyst
Summary
Staff proposed modest pay-range adjustments and a reclassification of an administrative secretary role to a management analyst to strengthen support for department heads; ranges would be adjusted for market reasons but do not guarantee across-the-board raises.

The committee reviewed a proposed update to the village pay plan on March 10 that would adjust pay ranges and include a reclassification of one administrative secretary position to a management analyst.
Staff said the change is intended to create a management-analyst position to increase capacity and better support department heads with a minimal budgetary impact. "We think there's a great opportunity to do a slight, organizational, modification and upgrade and and transition from an administrative secretary role to a management analyst and for a minimal investment and really elevate some of the work that we're doing," a staff presenter said.
Staff noted the pay-range changes are market adjustments for hiring and recruitment purposes and do not automatically increase existing salaries. Committee members asked about the communities used as comparables in the market survey and asked staff to consider including additional communities in future comparisons.
Ending: Committee members did not object to the approach and asked staff to continue refining comparables and return with final pay-plan language for Board review.
