Council directs staff to open application process for Measure V oversight committee slots

The Clear Lake City Council on Jan. 16 gave staff direction to begin an application process for filling the city’s seats on the Measure V (citizen oversight) committee.
City Clerk Swanson explained that the Measure V ordinance establishes a five-member citizen oversight committee; each council member appoints one representative. Two council members had already made appointments that they said they would keep; other council members asked staff to establish a public application process and provide the applications for their review and appointment decisions.
"If you don't have someone in mind, we can do an application process like we would for other committee members," the clerk said. Several council members indicated they wanted to use the application process.
Council members noted that the committee typically meets once a year to review Measure V revenues and expenditures and report to the council; no immediate appointment action was required at the meeting, only direction to staff to begin the application process.
