Chief Bobbs, Clear Lake Police Chief, told the City Council on Feb. 20 that the department's 2024 statistics showed declines in several crime categories and improvements in some operational measures.
The department recorded just over 35,000 total incidents in 2024, of which just under 22,000 were calls for service and about 13,000 were officer-initiated events, Chief Bobbs said. Arrests fell slightly to just over 1,800 and police reports completed declined to just under 3,200, he said.
"Total crime statistics: crimes against persons were down about 1.5 percent, property crime down about 21.5 percent and crimes against society down about 18.25 percent," Chief Bobbs said. He added the overall crime rate for the offenses…
