Committee approves seasonal markets and event permits; tables July bandstand event pending recreation department confirmation

Separately, Eulalia Feliz raised a long-standing July 5 community event at Campagnon Common and expressed concern after learning contractors may begin work on the bandstand area after July 5. Committee members said the bandstand area — the central bandstand/circle — is slated for work and advised Ms. Feliz to discuss alternatives with Recreation Director Adelie Gonzalez and DPW. The committee voted to table the July 5 item and asked staff to report back in two weeks with confirmation about whether the bandstand and adjacent areas will be available.
Why it matters: The Common is a focal point for summer community events. Construction in the bandstand area could force event relocations and affect groups that rely on familiar public space for long-running programming.
Next steps: The committee instructed the clerk to confirm availability of the Common and to obtain written confirmation from the recreation department for the Oct. 29 date and for the proposed alternative locations; several permit approvals were contingent on that confirmation and will appear on the full council agenda.
