Board members approved a $609,254 bid award for cafeteria serving lines to Chef's Deal Restaurant Equipment, to be installed at Surf City, Rocky Point, South Topsail and Malpas Quarters elementaries. Mr. Mike Taylor, presenting the item, said the units "will be placed at Surf City Elementary, Rocky Point Elementary, South Topsail Elementary, Malpas Quarter Elementary" and that the lines "will be reduced in height to allow our students to self serve themselves." He told the board funding would come from the child nutrition enterprise fund and the district's spend-down plan submitted to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
