Fairgrounds capital projects in permitting; Coliseum Way nearly complete and Fair Plaza open

Operations staff told the Board of Fair Commissioners that multiple fairgrounds capital projects are moving through permitting and that budgets are in good condition.
Staff said electrical work for Infrastructure Part 2 is complete and that the Coliseum Way Extension (the continuation of Upper Coliseum Way) is in final budgeting and permitting; staff reported that about 95% of funds for Coliseum Way have been expended. Fair Plaza hosted an event on March 22 and is open for use; staff said site lighting work will be completed when new railings with integrated light fixtures are installed. The Lot 2 multipurpose lot received the first round of city comments and staff expected to address those quickly to place the project before the fair. NDOT’s sidewalk project near the dog park is cleared to proceed and staff said NDOT expected to start around April, pending a confirmed start date.
Staff emphasized that most projects are in permitting and that budgets are being finalized, contracted and advanced to construction as appropriate. Board members asked no substantive budget questions during the briefing.
Ending Staff closed the item after inviting questions; none were raised and the meeting proceeded to the next agenda item.
