Coastal Outreach Soccer marks 20 years and presents community-hero award to local educator

Sean Williams of Coastal Outreach Soccer addressed the Glynn County Board of Education on March 11 to mark the program's 20th anniversary and to present a community-hero award.

Williams described the program's origin and mission: "in 02/2004, soccer was started to give access to students that live in low to moderate income families access to soccer... with the premise that we would stay in their lives, stay involved in their lives, help them with their academic development, and be there to shake their hand when you gave them their diploma as they were coming off the stage." He noted a yearlong celebration that began in August and activities to highlight students and program alumni.

Williams introduced a student, Danielle Rowe, who attended the meeting with him, and presented a "community heroes award" to a school employee the transcript identifies as Seunghee for long-term contributions supporting program participants. Williams said the award reflected not only soccer involvement but the honoree's broader impact on students and teachers during two decades of collaboration.
