Council approves payroll, zoning appointment, grant applications and road maintenance contracts

The Blue Island City Council on Feb. 13, 2025, approved routine payroll and financial items, confirmed an appointment to the zoning board of appeals, authorized several grant applications and awarded contracts for the 2025 road maintenance program during a meeting held by the council.

The council unanimously approved the payroll dated Feb. 28, 2025, in the amount of $470,329.30. Members then voted to confirm Patty Jo Mitchell to fill a vacancy on the Zoning Board of Appeals. Council members also approved an ordinance designating 12930 Western Avenue as a historic landmark and voted to authorize applications for community development and local infrastructure grant programs, including a 2025 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application and a grant application to fund the Highland Avenue improvement project.
