The Huntington Union Free School District Board of Education voted unanimously on a series of routine and policy items during its meeting.
The board approved the minutes of its Feb. 10, 2025 meeting, accepted the internal audit corrective action plan that addressed employee attendance from the 2023–24 internal audit, and accepted the January 2025 treasurer’s report. The board also approved warrants certified for payment dated Feb. 12 and Feb. 26, 2025.
On policy matters, the board adopted a first‑read draft of revised policies connected to Title IX compliance after a federal court decision vacated the 2024 Title IX regulations and restored the 2020 rules. The board adopted revised policy 3421 and form 3421‑F (Title IX/discrimination) and adopted policy 75‑54 (Equal Educational Opportunities) while rescinding policy 75‑55 (Educational Services for Married/Pregnant Students); the administration said language from the rescinded policy was incorporated into 75‑54.
Personnel and business items were approved en bloc. The board approved CSC/CPSC submissions as presented, multiple personnel schedules (3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 16 and 22), and business items I through Q.
The board accepted three donations: $2,500 from the Southdown Primary PTA to offset field‑trip costs; $2,290 from Tanger Deer Park Outlets for Washington Primary through the Tanger Kids Grant program for a school-signage project; and a donation of musical instruments valued at $1,150 from Janet Picarro to the music department.
All recorded motions were approved by voice vote with the chair calling “all in favor” and the meeting minutes stating unanimous approval for each item.
Why it matters: These routine approvals clear previously discussed administrative and fiscal housekeeping, advance Title IX–related policy adjustments prompted by recent court action, and formalize personnel and program funding changes ahead of the new fiscal year.
Ending: Most items were approved without extended debate; the board will return to budget and staffing matters at subsequent meetings.
