At a public hearing, Athens city staff and council considered a resolution finding the structure at 1987 U.S. Highway 31 South to be unsafe and ordering its abatement.
A staff member told the council the structure โ described as a double-wide mobile home that had served as an office trailer at Limestone Memorial Gardens โ had been removed by the property owner. Mayor William R. Marks and staff recommended no further action because the hazard had been cleared.
Because the property owner cleaned up the site, council did not move forward with additional abatement measures. The mayor and staff thanked the property owner for resolving the condition.
No formal abatement action or vote to proceed with enforcement was recorded after the staff update.
