WAUSAU, Wis. — The Wausau Board of Public Works on Tuesday approved several contract payments, a small design amendment for downtown redevelopment and the list of prequalified contractors for the city’s 2025 sidewalk repair program.
The board voted to approve pay estimate No. 8 to Community Infrastructure Partners for the city’s lead service-line replacement work for the 2025 season in the amount of $138,169.67. Board members also approved an amendment to Becker Hoppe’s agreement tied to the Wausau Downtown Mall redevelopment for $9,426, and pay estimate No. 1 to Advanced Coating Solutions for stairwell cleaning and coating at 24 Jefferson in the amount of $23,029.10. Commissioners additionally approved prequalification of Pembroke Companies, Petricas Construction and S. D. Allen Becker for the 2025 sidewalk repair project.
The lead service-line payment came with an operational note: the city is still awaiting a schedule from the Department of Natural Resources to close loans for 2024 and 2025. “We’re still waiting on that schedule,” a board member said during the meeting, which the board recorded as part of its discussion of the lead-line program.
The $9,426 amendment for Becker Hoppe followed staff explanation that the firm had to revise construction drawings after the installed building elevation differed from the datum provided earlier. A staff member described the discrepancy as “2 tenths of a foot. Oh. About 3 inches,” and said Becker Hoppe performed additional work—about 80 hours—to update elevations and plans.
The board deferred action on Amendment 1 with Strand Associates for the Abel stormwater pumping-station rehabilitation. A board member said the item will be brought back at the next meeting and was not ready for approval this week.
On the routine side of the agenda, the board approved the minutes from its March 4 meeting and then adjourned.
