Council grants National Grid petition to install utility pole on Minot Avenue

The Brockton City Council on Monday granted a petition from Mass Electric Company doing business as National Grid to install a single utility pole on Minot Avenue.
A National Grid representative identified himself as Mohammed and told the council the work was needed because “there is a big tree in the last house of that property. It is a dead tree, so the owner of the house is removing it. In that tree, we had an anchor kinda supporting all the poles. Due to the fact that that tree is being removed, we needed to put a pole to support the other poles, in that neighborhood.”
The council opened a public hearing, asked whether the petitioner was present, and heard the explanation. No one spoke in favor or opposition during the hearing, the council closed the public comment portion, and then voted by hand to grant the petition. The council president announced, “The petition is granted.” No conditions were recorded in the meeting transcript.
