City staff invited residents and other stakeholders to two open houses on the city’s new comprehensive plan, a planning review the city expects to use as guidance for future land-use, transportation and growth decisions.
Staff said the open houses are scheduled for noon to 3 p.m. at the La Porte County Public Library Exchange Building and 5 to 8 p.m. at the La Porte Civic Auditorium. The sessions will use an open-house format with topic stations for different elements of the plan; staff encouraged participation. “More than welcome to attend,” a staff member said when announcing the events.
Staff said the plan will replace reliance on the countywide land development plan for city decisions and will address future land use, transportation, housing, utilities and related topics. A project website (city planning page referenced in the meeting as www.laporte.com) was provided for additional information and future sessions.
The board and staff said additional sessions are likely as the plan develops.
