Valley Career and Technical Center Foundation asks local industry for support, offers contact for partnerships

“I feel we have a very valuable resource,” Earhart said. “We created the foundation or I’ve been working on it for two major purposes. One is to raise awareness of the value of the organization... The second is to create an independent funding source for equipment needs.” He said the foundation intends to take information to local businesses and industries to explain how the center supports workforce development.
Earhart said the foundation supports instructors and works with Valley Career and Technical Center leadership, naming Julie Maxwell as principal and citing other board members in attendance, including Kim Wood (chair), Tommy Shields, Nick Collins and John Glover. He described recent foundation activities and partnerships with local tradespeople, including a blitz-build project the foundation supported that involved students and tradespeople in home construction.
Earhart provided a contact for constituents seeking more information or to support the foundation: the Valley Career and Technical Center office at (540) 245-5002. He said center leadership — including Julie Maxwell and Dr. Weitzel, the center director — and foundation board members are available to meet with employers and community groups.
Council members praised the foundation and the center’s staff and students during the presentation, noting the center’s role in workforce development and community economic activity. No council action was required or taken on the presentation; it was provided for information and outreach.
