The Fresno County Board of Supervisors on March 11 honored Edward Moreno for 25 years of service with the Department of Behavioral Health, proclaimed March 2025 as professional social worker appreciation month and acknowledged several community organizations and milestones, including the American Red Cross and the 80th anniversary of the Fresno County Employees Retirement Association.
"On Tuesday, March 11, the Fresno County Board of Supervisors honored Edward Moreno for his 25 years of service with the Department of Behavioral Health," said Speaker 1 (Board of Supervisors member). Another speaker added, "If you want to award someone, something for the kindest county employee, it would have been Ed Moreno." These remarks were presented as part of the board's recognitions and did not include a formal vote.
The board also proclaimed March 2025 professional social worker appreciation month. "Social workers play a vital role in supporting and advocating the vulnerable individuals and families while driving meaningful change in our community. This year's social worker appreciation theme, compassion plus action, reflects the dedication and the impact of their work," said Speaker 2 (Presenter).
A speaker identifying affiliation with the American Red Cross thanked the board: "We're just, really thankful that you lift up, the work of the Red Cross that we're doing because that is lifting up the work of our volunteers who dedicate, a a large chunk of their lives and sacrifice a lot of time with their families, friends, and community, just to give back." The board also acknowledged the eightieth anniversary of the Fresno County Employees Retirement Association; a speaker described the county retirement benefit as a defined benefit that participating public employees can expect if they have a career in county civil service.
