District operations staff reported on Prop S construction progress and a consultant’s fixed‑asset inventory during the March 11 board meeting.
Director of Operations Jeronetta Brookins presented before‑and‑after photos from recent Prop S work, including restroom renovations, roofing, drinking fountain installations and playground upgrades at multiple elementary and secondary campuses. She listed upcoming projects at specialty schools — including auditorium, vestibule and dance studio work at the Central Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) and Collegiate School of Medicine & Bioscience (CSMB), locker room and gym upgrades at Gateway STEM, and parking improvements on the Kemper side — and noted the district’s Navigate Building Solutions schedule showing active work in spring 2025.
Separately, RCI, a consultant hired to perform a fixed‑asset inventory, reported that its team conducted on‑site inventory work at 53 campuses and scanned and recorded more than 6,760 assets and inventoried 1,619 classrooms on completed campuses. RCI said it will deliver a reconciled database and hand over software to the district for future inventories.
Why it matters: The Prop S updates document visible facility improvements voters authorized; the fixed‑asset inventory responds to audit recommendations and a finance policy that requires regular inventory, giving the district current asset records for accountability and planning.
Next steps: Prop S teams will continue scheduled project work and share updates; RCI will finalize the database and provide software to support future biennial inventories.
Ending: Board members praised the visible improvements and asked for clearer communications to school communities about upcoming projects and timelines; operations agreed to improve school‑level outreach and project signage.
