The Crete Public Schools Board approved an estimate from Idea Bank Marketing to assist the district and the CPS Foundation with a capital fundraising campaign for the athletic facility.
Dr. McDowell said Idea Bank would design campaign strategy, create marketing materials, run social media and handle donor follow‑up and acknowledgments. The proposal presented to the board estimated a campaign cost between $16,050 and $25,000 depending on the level of social media, print and mailing services requested.
Board members discussed the value of professional fundraising support versus volunteer solicitation. One board member said past volunteer‑only campaigns were “not very effective,” and that professional support could improve success. The motion to accept the estimate was made by Board Member Scott, seconded by Greg Holman; a roll call recorded yes votes and the motion carried.
Why it matters: the district has building‑fund resources to complete Phase 1 work but is seeking outside fundraising to accelerate later elements (for example, scoreboard or turf). Idea Bank would coordinate fundraising activity through the CPS Foundation so donors would give to the foundation for channeling to the district.
Next steps: staff said Idea Bank would begin work after the board’s approval and coordinate with the CPS Foundation on campaign structure and materials. The board did not approve a guaranteed contract amount beyond the estimate; the final scope and cost will depend on campaign choices and materials requested.
