Superintendent Hartman updated the Fremont Re-1 Board of Education on internal reviews, recruitment activity and staff-appreciation efforts.
Hartman told the board the district completed eight instructional program reviews (IPRs) and described the process as time-consuming and collaborative, involving building leaders and community partners. He also reported district participation in a retention and recruitment fair where the district interviewed multiple candidates; the superintendent said about six of seven interviewed that day were strong candidates likely to be offered contracts.
The superintendent described a district staff-appreciation effort — morning donuts and visits to transportation, grounds, CES and several schools — and noted board members participated in those visits. Hartman said he attended the PWR (post-secondary work-based readiness) day at the state capitol on Feb. 27 as a presenter, and he cited Discover Canyon (an outreach/recruitment event) as prompting at least one candidate and spouse to return to the community to look at housing.
Hartman also reported on ongoing construction meetings and supply-chain concerns for district building projects; he said staff expect the projects will be completed and updated buildings returned to use when work finishes, but he did not provide a final completion date.
