Committee hears RTU and roofing updates for Elliot and Broadmeadow schools; approves designer and commissioning invoices

The Permanent Public Building Committee on March 10 received an update on rooftop-unit (RTU) commissioning at the Elliot and Broadmeadow schools and approved two invoices related to design and commissioning services.
Staff reported that a damper-sequencing problem on one RTU at Elliot had been corrected and that a rebalancing step is next to close out commissioning. For Broadmeadow, staff said the roofing package is on the street; only one contractor toured the site the first week and staff scheduled another walkthrough on Wednesday. Roofing work is planned to begin after the school year ends in June and will include localized deck work and about two inches of added insulation to meet code levels for the sections where rooftop units are located.
The committee approved an invoice to GCD Consulting Engineers for January 2025 services at Broadmeadow in the amount of $4,000 (designer budget) and an invoice to NV5 for January 2025 commissioning services in the amount of $591.75 (miscellaneous budget). Both motions passed on roll-call votes. Staff said they expect to present reconciled roofing bids at the April meeting and urged members’ participation.
