Council approves rezoning for Caravan Ventures auto headquarters parcel near I-24

The Town Council voted to rezone a 3.57-acre parcel on Bridal Drive (tax map 50, parcel 14.07) from C-2 to I-2 after a public hearing at the March meeting.
Kevin (planning staff) described the site as roughly 250 feet northwest of Tridon Drive’s intersection with Safari Drive, with the rear of the parcel bordering the I-24 Bridalview exit ramp. The land use plan designation is the I-24 gateway character area, supporting a mix of local and regional uses such as hospitality, retail and multifamily. Planning staff recommended approval and the Planning Commission recommended approval by a 7–4 vote.
Justin Bailey, owner of Caravan Ventures and operator of Bailey Company in Nashville, said the company—headquartered in Nashville since 1949 and operating 10 locations—intends to invest in an attractive, flagship location and employ about 30 people at the Smyrna site. "We plan to make it look extremely attractive to showcase our brand," Bailey said, adding the site’s interstate visibility was a key factor.
A council member moved and the council voted in favor during the meeting; no public opposition spoke at the hearing. The motion passed.
