Ramsey County Commissioner Kelly Miller introduces herself to North St. Paul council, seeks collaboration

Kelly Miller, the newly sworn-in Ramsey County commissioner for District 7, introduced herself to the North St. Paul City Council and said she is eager to work with the city on regional initiatives and local projects.

Miller told the council she has spent the past six weeks in onboarding, meeting county staff and receiving committee appointments. "I want to express my excitement about working alongside you. To support North Saint Paul and ensure that our county and our city relationships, maintain strong or are able to grow," she said.

Miller listed several of her county and regional assignments, including seats on the Workforce Innovation Board, the Ramsey Washington Recycling and Energy Board, the Metropolitan Mosquito Control District Board and the Metropolitan Emergency Services Board. She said her office has reached out to council members to schedule individual meetings so she can learn more about North St. Paul and "how I can support the work that you guys are doing for the community and for the broader Ramsey County." She closed by saying she is "happy to listen, learn, and, you know, support you and the work that you're doing as needed."

Mayor Monique Mange introduced Miller to the council and the public; council members applauded after her remarks.

Miller offered no specific county commitments or funding promises at the meeting; she asked to meet individually with council members so that she and her staff can better understand local priorities and potential areas for county–city cooperation. The council did not take formal action related to her remarks.

Kelly Miller’s appearance was a presentation item on the agenda and took place during the presentations segment of the meeting. The council's next regular meeting was announced for March 4.
