Parks commission recommends McKnight field plans, will forward HGA final document to council

The North St. Paul Parks and Recreation Commission voted to recommend the final McKnight Field plans prepared by HGA to the City Council, moving the project forward for council consideration on March 4.

Commissioners said the version in the meeting packet incorporated edits requested at a prior meeting, including more information on artificial turf and several spelling corrections. Sarah Zratka, a city staff member present at the meeting, made the motion to approve HGA’s final McKnight field plans and recommend them to the council; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.

The recommendation to council does not itself approve construction funding; commissioners discussed only that the document in the packet reflected requested changes and was ready for council review. Trigg, identified in the packet as an HGA representative who attended earlier meetings, had previously provided the revised materials noted by staff.

The commission’s action was procedural—forwarding the plan for council consideration—and did not commit the city to particular funding or scheduling beyond the March 4 council agenda. Commissioners said they expect further cost and prioritization discussion at the council level once council members see the price estimates attached to HGA’s proposals.

The commission will present the recommended HGA materials at the March 4 city council meeting; commissioners said they will be prepared to discuss the plan and any council requests that follow.
