EDA delays election of 2025 officers until next month

The North St. Paul Economic Development Authority voted to table the 2025 election of officers until its next meeting so that more appointed members can attend and discuss placements.
Vice President Matthews and other members discussed the bylaws requirement that the EDA annually elect a president, vice president, treasurer, assistant treasurer and secretary, and that some offices need not be held by authority members. Executive Director Frandell read the relevant bylaws language aloud. Several members said they preferred waiting until more members were present so there could be broader input on who occupies each seat.
A motion to table the election for one month was made and seconded; the authority then voted in favor. Members confirmed a quorum was present at the meeting when they took that vote.
The authority also clarified that the offices of president, vice president and treasurer must be held by authority members, while the secretary and assistant treasurer positions may be filled by non-members, as provided in the EDA bylaws.
The authority asked staff to schedule a meeting next month for the election and return with any additional information needed for members to select officers.
