The Brainerd City Safety and Public Works Committee voted to authorize advertising for bids on the Lowell Safe Routes to School project, a state-funded pedestrian and bicycle-safety improvement.
"This one here is a state fund project. So this is all state funds with this improvement," the Public Works Director said, describing the project as funded entirely with state grant money. Staff noted the design includes added electrical outlets in a median and that maps of the layout were included in the project materials. The Public Works Director said the project will "enhance that school area."
A councilmember moved and a second was made; the motion carried without additional discussion. Staff will advertise the project and return bids for council review.
