The Albert Lea City Council approved the preliminary and final plat of Dress Addition on March 10, 2025. The Planning Commission held a public hearing Feb. 4, 2025 and recommended approval for compliance with Chapter 38 (Subdivisions).
City staff said the plat subdivides an existing parcel to meet the developer’s needs and designates an additional 27 feet of city property along Blake Avenue as public right-of-way to accommodate a future extension of the Blazing Star Trail. The property is identified in the city’s comprehensive plan for commercial use, staff said.
Councillor Christiansen moved approval of the preliminary and final plat; Councillor Baker seconded. The council approved the motion by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
The council packet showed the Planning Commission’s recommendation and the staff presentation noted that approval would permit the subdividing and right-of-way dedication described. The city manager indicated the final plat conforms with the applicable subdivision chapter cited to the council.
