Albert Lea council approves consent agenda including AWOS replacement and trail grant support

The Albert Lea City Council on Feb. 24 approved its consent agenda, which included a resolution to approve plans and specifications and to order quotations for an Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) replacement (Job 2406); two resolutions supporting Minnesota Department of Natural Resources grant applications for bridge replacement associated with new paved trails (Job 2411); and a resolution approving a gambling permit for the Twin Lakes Firemen's Relief Association.
City Manager reviewed the consent items and staff recommended approval. Councilor Baker moved to approve the consent and approval of the agenda; Councilor Anderson seconded. The clerk called the roll and the motion carried.
Council also noted that the Eberhardt Street and Utility Improvements Project (Job 24-13) was not ready to move forward and was moved to a future agenda for further staff work.
The AWOS replacement and trail grant-support resolutions advance preparatory steps: the AWOS item will move to bidding for replacement equipment and the trail resolutions signal municipal support for DNR grant applications tied to trail bridge work between Fountain Street and Shoff Park and between Albert Lea and Manchester.
