Lake Elmo Planning Commission appoints 2025 leaders, tables Chavez variance and approves minutes

The Lake Elmo Planning Commission elected new leadership, rescheduled a property-variance hearing and approved minutes during a short meeting Monday evening.
Commissioner Raycamp was nominated and accepted the commission’s chairmanship for 2025. "I'll accept the nomination," Commissioner Raycamp said after the nomination and a voice vote.
The commission also selected Commissioner Jane Charge as vice chair for 2025 by voice vote.
The commission voted to amend the agenda to move the public hearing on the Chavez property variances to the next planning commission meeting on Jan. 27. Chairwoman Dunn made the motion to amend the agenda, and Commissioner Vries seconded; the commission approved the change by voice vote.
The commission approved the minutes of its Nov. 25, 2024, meeting by voice vote after a motion and a second.
Staff provided a brief update on recent City Council actions and upcoming meetings. Staff said the Royal Golf conditional use permit and variance that Council heard Dec. 3 were approved by the City Council, the council approved a cannabis ordinance at that meeting, and a landscape-ordinance text amendment has been tabled to a February Council meeting. Staff noted the commission's goal-setting sessions are scheduled for the coming Wednesday and Thursday and said Commissioner Raycamp will represent the commission at those sessions. Upcoming meetings listed were Jan. 27 and Feb. 10, with a joint workshop with the City Council on Feb. 11.
The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and concluded after roughly four minutes of business; Chairwoman Dunn thanked departing members Chair Reisner and Commissioner Stile for their service and welcomed new commissioners before adjourning at about 6:34 p.m.
