Coon Rapids council adopts agenda, approves contracts and budget adjustments; consent items include police K-9 training donation

The Coon Rapids City Council on March 4 adopted its meeting agenda and approved a package of consent and action items, including acceptance of donated police K-9 training, several public-works contracts, an amendment to the fee schedule to add a fire-inspection fee for food trucks, a golf-course budget amendment, and lease agreements for golf carts and GPS units.

The council received the city’s semiannual gambling expenditure report for the period July 1 through Dec. 31, 2024, which showed combined net profit of $1,226,764.13 and that all organizations met the 60% expenditure requirement within the trade area. The council also adopted Resolution No. 25-38 to accept a $400.76 donation from the Community Strength Foundation for the 2025 Winter Concert Series and adopted Resolution No. 25-39 to accept a donated K-9 training program from Mark McDonough of McDonough K-9 valued at $14,000 for the city’s newly acquired canine "King," who will be partnered with Officer Meng Yang. The council received the city’s electronic payments schedule for Feb. 13–26, 2025, as required by Minnesota statute.

Under contract actions, the council awarded the 2025 full depth reclamation project (Resolution No. 25-2 Sub 9) for a base bid plus alternate to Northwest Asphalt, Inc., in the total amount of $574,345.96. Public-works staff explained that the project covers multiple…
