Simsbury — Independent auditors from CLA told the Board of Finance on Feb. 18 that the town received an unmodified (clean) opinion on its 2024 financial statements and on the major state and federal programs CLA tested. The auditors reported no findings in internal control over financial reporting and no compliance findings on the major programs they audited.
Jessica Anastoff, signing director for CLA, described year‑over‑year changes in the town’s financials: total assets rose to about $256 million (driven largely by capital additions, including Latimer Lane renovations), total liabilities were about $96.7 million, and the town’s net position rose to roughly $155.2 million. She said strong market conditions contributed to investment‑income gains and to increases in pension and OPEB trust balances during the year.
