Commissioners ratify Anthem renewal and multiple county contracts, cite $800,000 in pharmacy savings

Sheila Randall and Katie Stowers presented the ratification of the Anthem renewal. Randall said the county increased the annual maximum for dental benefits to $2,000 and did not change the two health plans offered under Anthem. Stowers said the county negotiated a new pharmacy contract that is expected to create about $800,000 in rebate revenue or savings for the county and that the county renewed stop‑loss excess reinsurance.
The board approved the ratification of the documents and the president’s previously executed signature.
Other approvals included an Esri capacity increase for server cores and a maintenance renewal for geographic information system products, and a Comcast sales order form for a multi‑year agreement serving the prosecutor’s office at the Blue Sky Building. Presenters said the Comcast agreement is prepared for a multiyear term with installation planned.
The commissioners also approved three contracts for Spanish‑speaking public defender services for Courts 4, 6 and 7, naming the attorneys identified in the packet as Victor Gevirtz (Court 4), Thomas Martin (Court 6) and Carlos Lam (Court 7). Joe Hackman moved those contracts for approval.
Pretrial services asked for a supplemental public defender contract after one defender resigned in March; staff said Christopher Phillips agreed to add one additional day per week beginning April 1 under his contract. That supplemental contract was approved.
Presenters described these items as renewals or standard procurement and the board approved them by motion with aye votes recorded during the meeting.
