The Marple Newtown School District School Board on March 11 heard its routine monthly financial reports and reviewed three Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU) items the district must act on this spring.
Joe (staff member) told the board the meeting packet includes the normal monthly bills for payment, the treasurer’s report, the financial schedule and the investment schedule, and invited questions. He described three DCIU items for board action: a DCIU general operating budget of $11,000,912, a special-education contract projection, and a technical-school budget of $18,076,000.
The DCIU general operating budget was presented as a full amount of $11,000,912; Joe said Marple Newtown’s share is roughly $156,000. He described the special-education item as a projected, reconciled contract: if the district’s usage and costs differ from the projection, the amount is reconciled at year end and the district will either pay an additional levy or receive a refund. He said the technical-school budget is tuition based and also reconciled at year end.
Joe noted the district aims to complete these actions in March so the intermediate unit can proceed with its business, and that larger attachments were sent separately by email for board review. No formal votes or vote tallies on these items were recorded in the transcript.
Board members were asked to contact district staff with questions as they review the materials; staff said they would provide additional details on request.
