More students apply for dual‑credit programs; committee forwards 40 SCN and 15 ECCP applications

Counselor presenters noted that the programs serve different partners: Start College Now applications are primarily to Western Technical College with a few to other technical colleges, while Early College Credit Program applications are mostly to UW system schools and some private providers such as Viterbo for specialized courses. The counselors said Western’s move to seven‑week course blocks has not reduced student success; in fact, they said many students are thriving in the compressed schedule.
There is overlap: six students applied to both programs (students may apply to both but can enroll in only one). Counselors reported the programs are growing compared with the prior year (last fall: 12 ECCP and 28 SCN), and they highlighted two students who will complete an interpreting certification this year.
The committee moved the applications to the full board for approval; the motion to place the item on consent was carried and recorded as forwarded to the full board 4–0 with three absent.
