Senate education committee forwards three Colorado Mesa University trustee reappointments to full Senate

Colorado Mesa University President John Marshall introduced the nominees and described CMU as "the fastest growing 4 year institution in the state" with a mission that includes a technical college and a large population of first-generation, rural and low-income students. "We try and stay laser locked on our mission to ensure that we provide students an affordable option," Marshall said.
Allison Griffin, presented for reappointment, said she had "seen what higher education has tried to do across this country" for vulnerable students and called CMU’s work for first-generation and rural students notable. Lori Buck described her ties to the Western Slope and said CMU helps broaden the local economy by working with public and private partners to fill workforce gaps. "I am a first generation student as well," Buck said, adding that CMU "wraps their arms around these students, whether it be the trades, whether it be the 4 year degree, or even certificates." David Foster said he had found "an unbelievable community" at CMU and praised President Marshall’s leadership and inclusivity.
Senator Marchman moved the committee to report the three reappointments to the full Senate with a favorable recommendation. The roll call recorded unanimous support. The committee chair advised that, with no objections to the consent calendar, the nominations would move quickly to the Senate floor.
The nominees did not face detailed questioning in committee; the record shows brief statements from each followed by the committee’s motion and unanimous roll call. There were no formal amendments or conditions attached in committee.
