At the March 10 meeting the board received two first readings: a revision to policy 4162 (drug and alcohol testing of commercial-driver-license holders and other employees) and a draft 2026–27 Prosser instructional calendar.
Transportation and legal staff said the CDL policy revisions were suggested by the Indiana State Police as part of a forthcoming audit; the revisions add sections on testing of bus drivers and refusal-to-test language, and they insert contact names and emails for the district’s transportation director and assistant director. The item was presented as a first read; staff said they already checked the language with the state police and will return to the board for approval at a later meeting.
District leaders also presented a first draft of a shared 2026–27 instructional calendar aligning NAFCS and Prosser, shifting to a more traditional calendar that would start in August and conclude a week before Memorial Day. The draft calls for a one-week spring break and a two-week winter break. Staff said they will solicit input from staff and the district’s teachers association and hope to return with a final calendar in April or later, and said the draft aims to provide more robust summer programming options for enrichment and credit recovery.
Ending: Both items were presented as first readings; no formal vote occurred. Staff will solicit feedback and return with recommended action at a future meeting.
